What we do What we offer The Staff The Board County Affiliates |
|
The Kentucky Consumer Advocate Network (KYCAN) was formed in 1988 by a small group of mental health consumers. It is a 501c(3) non-profit State funded organization that offers services for people Statewide. We currently have over 2,300 members . Offering services on three levels KYCAN incorporates educational and peer support as well as advocates on behalf of those with a mental illness. |
The Kentucky Consumer Advocate Network defines peer support as modeling recovery and communication skills for peers, advocating, educating and pursuing hope and encouragement by helping consumers help themselves. We take that definition and put it into action in everything we do. Educating, advocating, and supporting, we work closely with the consumer We believe this provides the best method for reaching people and developing a plan of action for recovery. Walking into the office of KYCAN you would see that definition posted right as you enter, and that is a belief on behalf of the entire staff.
